It was considered a historic moment on Wednesday when US president Donald Trump was impeached by the House, not once but twice. The decision was made a week after, on the basis of Trump supporters causing havoc at the Capitol Hill. The move has prompted many reactions on social media.
The House voted 232-197 to impeach Trump with the Capitol secured by armed National forces to prevent any further riots. Moreover, 10 Republicans also joined the Democrats backing the Trump impeachment.
The current President of US was formally charged with inciting an “insurrection” as he riled the supporters at the rally near National Mall to march towards Capitol in hopes to get pro-Republicans to overturn his defeat.
At least five people, comprising of a Capitol Police officer, died in the violence and its immediate aftermath.
Many flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts about impeaching Trump and several shared memes and jokes about it.
Model Chrissy Teigen tweeted, “I didn’t even know you could be impeached twice. I thought it was like dying.”
