Actor recalled she may have faced patriarchy without even recognising it

Bollywood actor Kajol is all set to make her digital debut with film Tribhanga, which will release on an OTT platform, reported Filmfare. But in a recent conversation with a leading daily about her character in this strong film, she revealed that she is only playing an extension of her real life persona.

While drawing similarities, she spoke of the life decisions she refused let anyone else take for her. Narrating the events that occurred before her marriage to actor Ajay Devgn, Kajol, with a heavy heart, recalled how her father was against her decision, but not because of who she was going to marry.

“My father (Shomu Mukherjee) was against me getting married at 24. He said that I should work more before I tie the knot. My mom (Tanuja) was my biggest supporter, and told me to go with my gut. I have been lucky that everybody around has always stood up for me. So, I did exactly what I wanted to do,” said the Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham star.

“I didn't have to face patriarchy. Or maybe I faced it without realising, because I can be oblivious in some situations,” she continued.

Kajol further stated that she owes her independent streak to her mother and so she has made her daughter Nysa, just as independent and self-sufficient too.

Never one to mince her words, Kajol is known for speaking her mind this candidness is precisely what makes her so popular. She will be seen in Tribhanga alongside Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar and the film’s teaser has received a great response too.
