70-year-old father commits suicide after slaughtering two girls

An elderly man killed his two differently-abled daughters and committed suicide in the provincial capital on Wednesday.

Police said Ziaullah Butt, 70 slaughtered his two daughters in Tokay Wala Chowk area of Rajgarh, Sanda. After the act, he committed suicide.

The deceased women were identified as Sadia, 34 and Aqsa, 30. After murdering them, their father also cut his body multiple times with the same knife that he had used to slaughter his daughters. He was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment but could not survive.

The man reportedly was poor and was frustrated because the his daughters were differently-abled persons and he was getting old.

In an earlier incident of violence within a family on December 21, 2020, a man had stabbed his wife, a stepdaughter and a stepson over a domestic dispute in Green Town.

The suspect Ashiq Ali had reportedly contracted second marriage with the victim Shamim Bibi after divorcing his wife. Shamim was also divorced.

Her children from her first marriage, Fauzia, 16 and Faisal, 14 were living with her in a rented quarter near Bagrian Chowk, Green Town.

The couple often quarrelled with each on minor domestic issues. On the day of the incident, a dispute erupted reportedly after the suspect accused his wife of stealing clothes from the home.

The next morning, he slaughtered all his family members while they were asleep.

Woman killed, sister hurt

Meanwhile, in another part of the city on Wednesday, a woman was killed while another was injured for refusing a marriage proposal.

The incident of murder of a girl and injury to her sister was reported in Ghazi Road area.

The suspect identified as Abdullah wanted to marry one of the sisters who had turned down his proposal asked for the marriage proposal. He had developed a grudge against her.

On Wednesday, he barged into the house of the victims with carrying a firearm and opened fire. As a result, the two women suffered bullet injuries.

They were shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced one of them dead on arrival. The deceased woman was identified as Kainat, 23 and the injured as Aiman.

A police team shifted the body to a morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements of witnesses. Police have arrested the suspect Abdullah and seized the weapon used in the crime and a mobile phone.

Violence against women is rampant in the provincial capital. Punjab Women Helpline received over 2,762 complaints of violence against women this year.

At least 35 of the complaints were related to murder, 67 rape and 77 abduction.

In another incident, a man was murdered by unidentified suspects reportedly over old enmity in Ferozwala courts, Shahdara. The deceased had come to appear before a court in a murder case. Another man was injured in the incident.

Victim Shaukat was nominated in a murder case and had come to Ferozewala Katchery to appear before a court.

As he reached the premises, two unidentified motorcyclists intercepted him and resorted to firing. As a result, two persons, Farooq and Shaukat received bullet injuries.

Shaukat died on the spot while Farooq was admitted in hospital for treatment. A police team reached the spot on information and removed the body to morgue for autopsy. They also collected forensic evidence from the scene and recorded statements of eye-witnesses.

Another man was murdered by unidentified suspects in Green Town. The deceased has been identified as Akhtar, 25. His bullet-riddled body was found in Bagrian area of Green Town.
