Victim was allegedly murdered by waste management company’s driver sacked last year

Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) Assistant Director Maulvi Masood Ahmed was allegedly murdered on Wednesday.

The victim, who was also President of the Employees Union, was shot by the waste management company’s driver who had been dismissed three months ago.

Police took the body into custody and started searching for the fugitive. The assailant had also filed an anti-corruption petition against the assistant director. The victim had reportedly fired him three months ago for the alleged corruption.

Out of resentment over his dismissal, the former driver shot and killed the Assistant Director of Transport and the President of the Employees Union.

As per details available with The Express Tribune, 42-year-old Assistant Director of FWMC Maulvi Masood Ahmed, a resident of Ghulam Muhammadabad, along with his brother Arshad and driver were passing in front of a sweet shop near Totianwala Khuwa area on Dijkot Road after concluding a the workshop of the waste management company when the former driver Sajid, a resident of Khurrianwala Pul, shot and injured Maulvi Masood Ahmed in retaliation for his dismissal three months ago.

The victim’s brother and driver rushed him to the Civil Hospital in critical condition where the assistant director succumbed to this injuries.

After the murder, the officers of the waste management company reached the hospital and protested against the Factory Area police for not taking timely action. Later, Factory Area DSP Malik Tariq and SHO Masood Nazir reached the Civil Hospital and negotiated with them.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the Anatomy Department of Allied Hospital Faisalabad for postmortem.

According to the police report, Sajid, the former driver who attacked Maulvi Masood Ahmed, had filed a petition against the assistant director for corruption.

The inquiry was being conducted by Assistant Director Monitoring Zahid Masood Nizami.

On the day of the incident, after both sides met with the Anti-Corruption Office in connection with their inquiry and were returning from a waste management workshop on Rajaba Road where Maulvi Masood Ahmad was shot dead.
