The Sindh High Court issued notices on Tuesday to the Sindh Home Department, Sindh Rangers director general, Sindh IGP, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) SSP, Crime Investigation Agency SSP, Ferozabad SHO and other relevant authorities on a plea seeking the recovery of a NED University of Engineering and Technology student.

The petitioner maintained that the CTD had raided the student's house in PECHS on December 17, 2020, and arrested him after receiving information of him being involved in suspicious activities. He, however, was later released when no solid evidence was found against him, according to sources in the CTD.

According to the CTD, at the time of arrest, two mobile phones found in the student's possession were sent for forensic analysis. After the release of the forensic report on January 11, 2021, the CTD booked the student and some others on charges of having links with banned outfit Daesh and funding terrorists. The CTD maintains that it has now re-launched the search for the accused.
