Coronavirus claims another 22 lives

Another 22 people succumbed to coronavirus overnight, which took the death toll to 3,730 in the province, said Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday.

According to the statement issued by the CM House, 1,064 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 when 12,566 samples were tested between Sunday and Monday. Shah stated that the virus tally in the province had reached 228,949.

On the other hand, 2,312 people recovered from the disease. The number of people who have recovered is 209,239.

Shah informed that 15,980 patients are currently infected by the virus in Sindh, of which 15,061 are in home isolation, 907 are being treated in different hospitals and 12 are admitted at isolation centres. He added that 820 patients are in critical condition and 79 of them have been shifted on ventilators.

Of the newly reported cases, Shah said that 845 people were diagnosed with the virus in the provincial capital. The district-wise break-up is 314 cases in the South district, 289 in East, 84 in Central, 66 in Korangi, 60 in West and 32 in Malir.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 37 new cases, Shaheed Benazirabad 18, Badin, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Khairpur 16 each, Shikarpur and Tando Muhammad Khan 10 each, Jacobabad and Umerkot seven each, Jamshoro, Larkana, Sujawal and Sukkur six each, Ghotki, Naushehro Feroze and Tando Allahyar five each, Thatta and Kashmore two each and Dadu and Sanghar one case each.
