Another 1,547 Covid-19 infections reported

Nine more people succumbed to the virus, lifting the death toll to 3,708

As many as 1,547 people were diagnosed with the coronavirus in the province overnight, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday, adding that the provincial virus tally had soared to 227,885.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 14,137 samples were screened for the virus between Saturday and Sunday, of which 11 per cent turned out to be positive.

Shah further stated that nine more Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus overnight, lifting the death toll to 3,708.

On the other hand, he informed that 2,852 people recovered from the contagious disease overnight, which took the number of recoveries to 206,927.

The CM said that 17,250 people are currently infected by the virus in Sindh, of whom 16,345 are in home isolation, 894 are being treated at different hospitals and 11 are admitted at isolation centres. Moreover, the condition of 806 patients is said to be critical and 82 of them have already been shifted on ventilators.

Of the newly reported cases, Shah maintained that 1,258 were detected from Karachi alone.

Meanwhile, Umerkot saw 50 fresh cases, Shaheed Benazirabad 46, Hyderabad 38, Mirpurkhas 27, Thatta 24, Dadu 14, Shikarpur 10, Tando Allahyar eight, Ghotki, Jacobabad and Sanghar seven each, Kashmore, Naushehro Feroze and Sukkur six apiece, Matiari five, Jamshoro four, Badin and Khairpur three each and Larkana two.
