QUETTA:

The Tehsil office in Chaman was attacked by a grenade on Monday by unknown miscreants.

Windows of the office and nearby buildings were smashed whereas three vehicles were also damaged in the attack. No loss of life was reported.

“There was no casualty reported in the grenade attack,” said Assistant Commissioner Chaman Zakaullah Durrani.

He added that so far, the target of miscreants was not clear and further investigation is underway. The area where the attack took place was also cordoned off by security forces who collected evidence from the site of the incident.

The three damaged vehicles have been confiscated by the Levies forces for investigation purposes.

On the other hand, levies forces foiled an improvised explosive device attack in Washuk district’s Basima area.

An IED was found by Levies officials that was planted to target the vehicles of security forces. They immediately alerted the bomb disposal squad that rushed to the site and defused the IED.

"It seems that terrorists wanted to conduct a blast with a remote control for hitting their target and inflict maximum number of casualties,” Assistant Commissioner Basima said.

An investigation has been ordered into the incident.
