Zardari and co-accused Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majeed filed requests for one-day exemption from hearing

ISLAMABAD:

An accountability court on Monday adjourned hearing of Park Lane corruption reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari till January 14.

Judge Muhammad Azam Khan conducted hearing on graft reference against the former president.

Zardari and co-accused Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majeed filed requests for one-day exemption from hearing, which were approved by the court.

At the outset of hearing, the defence lawyer continued cross-examining with witness Ahsan Aslam. After this, the court adjourned hearing of the case till January 14.

Meanwhile, the former president also filed a plea to the Islamabad High Court seeking exemption from hearing in his bail petition in a National Accountability Bureau inquiry pertaining to suspected transition of worth Rs8 billion.

In his case, Zardari, the Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman, stated that he had been admitted to the Ziauddin Hospital due to ailment. The division bench would hear the case on Tuesday (today).
