Sheikh Rashid says no room for loss of precious human lives

ISLAMABAD:

The killing of 22-year old Osama Nadeem Satti at the hands of Islamabad police was a tragic incident and such actions will not be tolerated in the future, the interior minister warned the new chief of the capital police on Sunday.

The newly appointed Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rehman had called on Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid.

The minister felicitated the police officer on assuming the charge and reminded him that his predecessor was removed for one too many lapses.

“The case of Osama Satti was a tragic incident. There is no room for any more errors involving the loss of precious human lives,” he said asking Rehman to warn the trigger happy cops who shoot first and ask questions later.

He directed the new IGP to take the necessary steps to professionalise the Islamabad police while Rehman briefed the interior minister regarding police reforms.

The minister also mentioned that new vehicles are being procured for the capital police that would help in improving the security situation of the city.

He added that housing facilities and perks will be provided to the officers, however, there will be zero tolerance against dereliction of duties and corruption. Rashid directed the police chief to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the all citizens.
