Owning to closure of educational institutions due to novel coronavirus pandemic, the organisations collecting blood donations for the thalassemia patients are facing difficulties in finding the donors.
The business community of the garrison city came forward to donate blood for the thalassemia patients on Sunday.
Around 50 members and employees of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) showed up at the blood donation camp organised by the chamber. RCCI President Mohammad Nasir Mirza said that the business community is fully aware of its social responsibilities.
He said that amid the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic and closure of universities and colleges in the city, patients of thalassemia are facing acute shortage of blood donation.

Mirza said that anticipating the need of the thalassemia patients, RCCI arranged a blood donation camp wherein as many as 50 members, staff and civil society donated blood. RCCI chief also appealed to the business community along with the citizens to come forward and be a part of its on-going campaign for relief activities.
“It’s the responsibility of all stakeholders of the society as lives of thalassemia children depend on blood transfusion,” he added.
