Punjab again sees highest number of deaths in 24 hours: NCOC

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Pakistan hits 33,474

ISLAMABAD:

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday once again reported that the most coronavirus related deaths in the last 24 hours occurred in Punjab.

The number of active coronavirus cases in Pakistan reached 33,474, NCOC stated as Pakistan recorded 2,007 cases in the past day.

As many as 40 more fatalities were also recorded, taking the country's death toll to 10,598.

According to the NCOC, about 40,898 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, of which 2,007 came out positive, taking the country’s tally for cases so far reported to 499,517.

Deaths

Out of the total, 3,679 deaths have occurred in Sindh, 4,242 in Punjab, 1,718 in K-P, 436 in Islamabad, 187 in Balochistan, 235 in AJK and 101 in G-B.

The NCOC stated that of the 40 fatalities reported on January 8, 9 were reported in Sindh, 21 in Punjab, eight in K-P, one in Balochistan and one in AJK.

Recoveries

According to NCOC, the total number of recoveries recorded in the country was 455,445.

Pakistan has so far conducted about 7,043,604 Covid-19 tests. There are about 631 hospitals with Covid-19 facilities and around 2,779 patients admitted across the country.
