ISLAMABAD: Displeasure was expressed on Tuesday by the Special Public Accounts Committee over the Fata secretariat’s performance. The committee directed the secretariat to improve their efficiency and focus on the development of Fata.
The committee directed the secretariat to recover long-outstanding dues worth Rs 3.136 million, and to subsequently verify this from the audit department. Yasmeen Rehman, who was presiding over the committee, stated that if the said amount was not recovered from the defaulters then it would be recovered from the officers who failed to recover it.
The committee also directed the Fata secretariat to present a comprehensive report regarding the finances used for scholarships in Fata. Secretary Fata Fazal Karim Khattak informed the committee that Fata was not taking funds from the government, in which case expenses could not be shared with the audit department.
