DERA GHAZI KHAN:

The father of a man’s second wife along with four accomplices on Thursday allegedly set fire to his two daughters inside their residence located in Basti Kot Lashari near Chok Karamdad Qureshi, resulting in the death of both minors.

Sources said Hafiz Abdul Majeed had solemnized second marriage with the main suspect’s daughter, Mehwish, out of love.

Enraged by the union, the father of Mehwish identified as Fida Hussain along with his companions poured petrol on the two toddlers born out of the man’s first wedlock and burned them alive inside their residence.

The victims, identified as three-year-old Urva Batol, and one and a half year old Aswa Batol, were shifted to the district headquarters hospital by the rescue service, where they succumbed to their wounds.

The father of deceased girls has nominated his in-laws in the murder case and called upon the law enforcement agencies to put them behind bars.

Police have arrested two of the persons mentioned in FIR and have started
raids to capture the other suspects.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has also taken notice of the crime and termed the incident 'extremely wicked'.

He ordered the authorities to apprehend the criminals at the earliest and show no mercy to them.

Stern action would be taken against attackers and the victims would be provided justice at their doorstep, he vowed.

The regional police officer (RPO) has also sought immediate report from the district police officer (DPO).

“The investigation of the incident should be completed immediately on all possible aspects and all the facilitators of the incident should be arrested,” the RPO said.

He directed the DPO to personally oversee the investigation of the case and said he should be kept informed of the case’s progress on a daily basis till the accused are punished.

Qureshi police have registered a case of double murder under the Anti-Terrorism Act and arrested two suspects, Fida Hussain and Muhammad Asif, nominated in the case.

Raids continue to apprehend the other suspects in the case.
