Court grants further extension to submit final challan

Sends four accused in drugs case on 14-day judicial remand

A local court granted an extension again on Tuesday to the investigation officer to submit the final challan in female doctor, M*'s suicide case.

M died on August 19, with a gunshot wound to her head, allegedly by suicide in Defence Housing Authority.

The IO submitted a report to the South judicial magistrate during the hearing at Karachi City Court.

According to the report, the DNA tests of the accused haven't been conducted yet.

The IO assured the court that he would submit the final challan after the accused underwent DNA tests.

He said the accused had been issued notices and summoned multiple times, but they didn't appear before the court.

"Accused Junaid has been issued notices and summoned four times and accused Nasir Siddiqui once, but none of them have appeared before the court," the IO elaborated.

Drugs case

Meanwhile, the West judicial magistrate sent four persons accused in a drugs case to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

The Pakistan Police presented the accused before the court.

The IO informed the court that 330grammes of hashish was found in the possession of accused Waseem, Naseem and Sarfaraz, and another 300g of hashish, as well as 4g of heroin, in the possession of accused Shazia.

He said the accused were habitual criminals and had previously been convicted in multiple cases of drug dealing.

Directing the IO to submit a case challan after completing the investigation against the accused, the court sent all four of them on a 14-day judicial remand.
