SSU nabbed 168 suspects in 148 raids this year

The Special Security United (SSU) Police arrested 168 suspects in 148 raids in 2020, besides performing security duties on key occasions.

According to the SSU spokesperson's statement on Wednesday, detailing the special unit's activities over the past year, SSU chalked out the security plan for Pakistan Super League in February and for the remaining games in November. Besides, the SSU commandos performed the security duties on Eid Miladun Nabi and Ashura and other occasions.

The spokesperson further mentioned that SSU Commando Khan Saeed Afridi won the gold medal in the Thai Boxing Championships in Bangkok by defeating his Chinese opponent, while lady commando Bakhtawar Bhatti bagged the first position in the First Lady Commando Shooting Competition.

A a six-member SWAT team of the SSU also participated in the second edition of the United Arab Emirates SWAT Challenge. The team performed mock drills, raids, recovery of wounded officers, and other exercises. An SP, a DSP and an SSU commando also died of Covid-19 this year.
