Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has irked many over his 'sexist' comments about Maryam Nawaz Sharif in a recent press conference. The Federal Minister was criticising the ongoing PDM rallies in the country and called out Maryam and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, asserting the "the government is ready to hold dialogue with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) but not with political interns like Maryam and Bilawal Bhutto.”
Speaking about the same, Fawad shared, "Maryam has never managed a kitchen in her entire life. She lived in her father's house and he ran the household. Likewise, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has never worked a day in his life."
"Yet both of them are submitting their resume to become the next prime minister of Pakistan. What can be a bigger insult to the people of Pakistan than that?" he added.
Soon after his remarks, people called the PTI leader out for his "derogatory and regressive" comments. One of them was celebrated host and VJ Anoushey Ashraf.
Penning her thoughts on a social media post, Anoushey said, "And Fawad Chaudhry manages to keep his bathroom clean at home and hence qualifies to be in the position he’s in? Uff, some of these men need to come with an annual upgrade button. We need to download new versions."
She went on to add, "Guys, it’s not about managing a kitchen. My mother is a housewife, managing a home is very very difficult. However, these comparisons are very 1995. The rhetoric has changed. What do you think equality means? My bathroom example seems to offend so many. Why? Because it’s silly. Just like his kitchen comment is, but since it’s the norm we don’t find it wrong."
Finally, she shared how she isn't a PML-N supporter but will voice her opinion over any wrongdoings. "Disclaimer: I am NOT a Maryam Nawaz supporter but will always stand up for women when they’re put down because of such reasoning. Ridiculous."
Twitterati also shared their displeasure over Fawad's comments.
"Did Fawad Chaudhry really say Maryam Nawaz can't run the country because she's never run a kitchen? I don't remember Imran Khan running a kitchen. I don't remember Nawaz Sharif running a kitchen. I don't remember Yousuf Raza Gilani running a kitchen. I don't remember Pervez Musharraf running a kitchen," a user said.
Another one penned, "Your remark was very insensitive and derogatory. Women aren't confined to just managing the kitchen in the 21st century. Every woman has the right to pursue whatever profession or field she wants."

Fawad is right. NS party and PP are in favor of dynastic rule and wrongly assume that these two families are the only ones who can rule the country and they also consider themselves above the law of the land.
