Special Security Unit (SSU) security and emergency services DIG Maqsood Ahmed expressed the desire on Tuesday to improve the police, bringing it at par with international standards.
He was addressing a batch of undertraining ASPs visiting the SSU headquarters.
According to a SSU spokesperson, SSU commander Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjhar also spoke to the ASPs undergoing training as part of the 47th specialised training programme.
Besides, DIG Maqsood said, "ASPs are the future of Pakistan and in order to improve the police, the department has to be cleansed of corruption."
He added that keeping in view the requirements of the changing times, the SSU had recently started imparting firearms and self-defence training to university students.
Later, the ASPs were shown demonstration of dealing with emergency situation by a SWAT team.
They presented a commemorative shield to DIG Maqsood, while the latter presented honourary shields to the former.
