Coronavirus claims 18 more lives in Sindh

Province sees 1,100 new cases, 2,799 fresh recoveries

The coronavirus claimed another 18 lives in the province overnight, lifting the infection's death toll to 3,520, said Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday.

Moreover, 1,100 people tested positive for the infection when 13,092 samples were tested overnight, increasing the virus tally in Sindh to 213,193, CM Shah added.

He said 2,799 more people had recovered from the contagious disease, following which the number of recovered patients in the province to 191,150.

The CM said there were 18,523 active Covid-19 cases in Sindh, of which 17,775 were in home isolation, 732 were being treated at different hospitals and 16 were at isolation centres. He added that the condition of 653 patients was unstable and 79 of them were on ventilators.

According to the CM, the provincial capital saw 925 cases on Tuesday, of which 452 cases belonged to East district, 251 to South district, 103 to Korangi, 66 to Central district, 31 to West district and 22 to Malir.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 53 cases, Jacobabad 12, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar 11 each, Matiari nine, Thatta seven, Ghotki eight, Tando Allahyar five, Tando Muhammad Khan four, Umerkot and Sanghar three each, Larkana and Naushehro Feroze two each and Dadu, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur and Sujawal one each.
