Pakistan Post has shut down 10 post offices in Rawalpindi including seven-night post offices and three full-day regular post offices due to recurrent losses.
Two full-day post offices of Rawalpindi's 300-year-old densely populated areas of Tench Bhatta and Chauhar Paryal have been shut down while the third was located in Askari 14.
The closed night post offices were located in the areas including Tench Bhatta, Chauhar Paryal, Westridge, Adyala Road Chungi No. 20, Pir Wadhai, Bakramandi, and Syed Poori.
With the closures, there are now only three night post offices in Pindi, the one in GPO, Urdu Bazaar and Satellite Town that work from 3pm to 9pm. There were complaints that the staff of the closed post offices did not work after 7pm, officials said.
The confirmed that the closed post offices were in constant deficit. All of the surplus staff have been transferred to other post offices and no employee will be dismissed during restructuring work.
Nazar Abbas, Shafiq Ahmed, and Jawad Khan are the shopkeepers in the areas where the post offices have been shut down.
