Ahmed says black bear will be shifted to a suitable place following SHC's orders

Karachi Zoo will get new animals, said City Administrator Laeeq Ahmed on Monday, adding that the animals, alien to local conditions, will be provided a natural habitat there.

Speaking to the media at Frere Hall on Monday, he said that the black bear would also be shifted to a suitable place in compliance with the Sindh High Court's orders.

Ahmed maintained that the zoo is not only a place of entertainment for the public, but it is also a source of information for children and students.

"The purpose of zoos around the world is to create awareness about animals," he said.

He asked non-governmental organisations and the private sector to step forward and cooperate with the administration in uplifting the zoo.

Renovation of roads

Meanwhile, the city administrator stated that the roads at Clifton and Schon Circle would be renovated to facilitate the citizens.

"A road, measuring 25,000 square feet, is being renovated near the Clifton Underpass and Schon Circle, which will facilitate people and traders," he said while reviewing construction work at Schon Circle.

Ahmed directed the works director-general Shabihul Hassan Zaidi to carry out other relevant tasks on priority, besides the construction of roads. He claimed that KMC is carrying out these projects from their pocket.

According to Ahmed, several other thoroughfares would be constructed and renovated in the city. Additional information from APP
