Sindh reports 11 deaths, 817 fresh Covid-19 cases

Positivity ratio stood at 8.8% on the day, according to chief minister

The coronavirus claimed another 11 lives overnight and 817 fresh cases were reported in the province, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, with these deaths and new infections, the provincial death toll soared to 3,502 and the virus tally rose to 212,093.

He added that 9,320 samples were tested on the day, of which 8.8 per cent turned out to be positive.

Meanwhile, 584 patients recovered from Covid-19 overnight, lifting the number of recoveries in the province to 188,351.

Shah stated that there are 20,240 active coronavirus cases in Sindh, of which 19,488 are in home isolation, 736 are being treated at different hospitals and 16 are at isolation centres.

He added that the condition of 656 patients is said to be critical and 72 of them have been shifted to ventilators.

The provincial capital saw as many as 690 fresh Covid-19 cases between Sunday and Monday.

Giving the district-wise break-up, Shah informed that 219 cases were detected in East district, 200 in South, 107 in Central, 79 in Korangi, 74 in Malir and 11 in West districts.

Moreover, 30 cases were reported in Hyderabad, 15 in Ghotki, 11 in Jamshoro, 10 in Matiari, seven each in Larkana, Naushehro Feroze, Thatta and Umerkot, five in Jacobabad, four in Badin, three in Dadu, two apiece in Kashmore, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Tando Muhammad Khan and one each in Shaheed Benazirabad and Tando Allahyar.
