Army officers, soldiers martyred in G-B helicopter crash

Aviation helicopter was evacuating body of martyred soldier Abdul Qadeer to CMH Skardu, says ISPR

A Pakistan Army Aviation helicopter crashed due to technical reasons while carrying out casualty evacuation in Gilgit-Baltistan’s remote area, Minimarg. Two officers and as many soldiers were martyred in the unfortunate incident, military said.

“The helicopter was evacuating body of shaheed (martyred) soldier Sepoy Abdul Qadeer to CMH [Combined Military Hospital] Skardu,” said military’s media wing, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), in a statement on Saturday.

The martyred officers and soldiers are identified as Pilot Major M Hussain, Co-Pilot Major Ayaz Hussain, Naik Inzimam Alam and Sepoy Muhammad Farooq, according to ISPR.

Earlier in April, A Pakistan Army Aviation trainer aircraft, Mushak, crashed near Gujrat during a routine training mission with both pilots martyred, said the ISPR.

"Major Umer (instructor pilot), resident of Gujrat, and Lieutenant Fiazan (student pilot) resident of Kalar Kahar, Chakwal embraced Shahadat."
