Centre has increased the allowances of all doctors serving the federal government hospitals. Initially the physicians of Polyclinic Hospital will be able to avail the facility in the month of January.
The rise in allowances will increase the salaries of doctors in grades 17 to 18 by Rs40,000 to Rs45,000 while those in grades 19 to 21 by Rs50,000 to 55,000. The government also increased the non-practicing allowance of all doctors of the Polyclinic Hospital while also issuing special healthcare allowance to them. On August 19, 2020 Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved an increase in the allowances of doctors serving the federal government hospitals. Later, the finance ministry okayed the summary and referred the matter to the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR).
Sources said that now AGPR had formally increased the allowances for the doctors of Polyclinic Hospital, which they will be able to avail in the month of January. The federal government had approved the non-practicing and special healthcare allowance equal to 75% of the basic pay scale of 2018 of doctors falling in grade 17 and 18 serving the federal government hospitals including PIMS and Polyclinic Hospital.
The increase in allowances will result in a raise of Rs40,000 to 45,000 in their salaries. The doctors of grade 19 and 21 have been given non-practicing allowance equal to 50% of their basic pay scale of 2018 and the same amount of special healthcare allowance. The increase in these two allowances will raise their salaries by Rs50,000 to Rs55,000.
