Body of man killed in ice factory blast identified

The body of a man killed in a blast in an ice factory on Tuesday was identified as 35-year-old Bashirul Rafiq, through the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee’s Shanakht programme.

Rafiq hailed from Bahawalpur and worked at the ice factory in New Karachi Industrial Area.

The body was handed over to Rafiq’s cousin, Muhammad Ramzan, following the completion of medico-legal formalities.

As many as 10 deaths were reported in the incident and Rafiq is the last of the deceased to be identified.

Meanwhile, the clearing operation at the destroyed factory continued for the third day.

Besides, a bomb disposal squad inspecting the site collected four samples from the site of the incident and handed them over to the police.

The samples have been sent to a laboratory for forensic analysis, the report of which is expected to be released after 16 days.
