Single-day Covid-19 fatalities hit 111 in Pakistan

Most deaths were reported in Sindh, followed by Punjab

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Thursday reported the highest number coronavirus related deaths of 111 in the country since June; taking the death toll to 9,668.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), most deaths were reported in Sindh, followed by Punjab.

The highest number of ventilators occupied in the country was found to be at 51 per cent occupancy in Multan, followed by Islamabad at 40 per cent, Lahore at 35 per cent and Peshawar at 27 per cent.

Meanwhile, the highest number of oxygen bed occupancy was reported in four major cities. According to NCOC, it was at 64 per cent in Peshawar, 43 per cent in Multan, 36 per cent in Abbottabad and 33 per cent in Karachi.

The NCOC further reported 2,256 new cases in the last 24 hours as the total number of cases jumped to 465,070.

Active cases by province

The total number of active Covid-19 cases across Pakistan was reported to be at 38,268.

The number of active cases in Sindh was 11,643, 15,486 in Punjab, 4,124 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), 4,683 in Islamabad, 443 in Balochistan, 389 in Gilgit Baltistan and 405 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Covid-19 related death by province

Out of the 9,668 total reported deaths, there had been about 3,419 deaths in Sindh, 3,783 in Punjab, 1,577 in K-P, 398 in Islamabad.

About 181 deaths had been reported in Balochistan and 99 deaths in G-B and 211 in AJK.

According to NCOC, about 1,728 patients had recovered from the deadly pandemic in the last 24 hours taking total recoveries to 417,134.

The NCOC also reported that a total of 6,428,240 tests had been conducted since the outbreak of the virus. There are about 615 hospitals with Covid-19 facilities with 2,878 patients admitted across the country, it added.
