ISLAMABAD:

The lawyers in Islamabad did not attend case hearings on Wednesday responding to the strike call of Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) against the murder of IBA senior member Shah Alam.

IBA Secretary Tahir Mirza condemned the killing of the senior member and said that the incident had exposed the security condition in the federal capital. He demanded the arrest of the suspects at the earliest.

Mirza said that the lawyers’ fraternity was aggrieved over Alam’s killing and observed a strike against it. “The whole legal fraternity is standing with the victim’s family at this crucial time,” he said. The official demanded the law enforcing agencies to arrest the killers of Shah Alam. Lawyers would resort to protests if the suspects were not apprehended soon, Mirza said.

Investigation team formed

Islamabad police have constituted a special team to investigate into the murder case of a lawyer who was shot dead in sector G-10 by unidentified motorcyclists last day, police source said. The deceased was resident of Bannu and police sources said that it was believed that the motive behind the murder was apparently old enmity.

Soon after the incident, Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed constituted a police team including Ramna Police Station SHO Sub Inspector Turabul Hassan. Police source said that Bannu police has been also approached to get details about the cases registered there over rivalry of the deceased with other people.
