Suspect wanted for attack on precinct arrested

The arrested suspect, later identified as Ali Sher Afghan, was shifted to the hospital

RAWALPINDI:

A suspect nominated in the firing at muhrar office of Sadiqabad police station has been arrested in an alleged police encounter.

A squad of Sadiqabad police station was manning a picket on Nora Road, when they told two people riding a motorbike to stop for checking.

However, the suspects opened fire and tried to escape. Subsequently, police returned fired and managed to arrest one of the suspects in injured condition. The other one escaped.

The arrested suspect, later identified as Ali Sher Afghan, was shifted to the hospital. A motorcycle and a pistol were recovered from his possession of well.

Soon police found out that Sher Ali was also wanted in the Sadiqabad police station attack case which was registered under the provisions of terrorism. SHO has said that the police are searching for the fled suspect.

City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younus said that arresting a dangerous suspect in a serious case was a challenge for the police.
