Another 40 people succumb to Covid-19
HYDERABAD:
Another 40 people succumbed to the coronavirus overnight in the province, following which the the death toll climbed to 3,419, said Sindh Chief (CM) Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 918 new cases emerged when 11,643 samples were tested on the day, resulting in a positivity rate of 7.9 per cent, which lifted the virus tally in the province to 207,407.
According to the statement issued by the CM office, 807 people recovered from the contagious disease, lifting the number of total recoveries in Sindh to 184,999.
Shah stated that currently there were 18,989 active Covid-19 cases Sindh, of which 18,159 were in home isolation, 817 were undergoing treatment at different hospitals and 13 were in isolation centres. The condition of 722 patients is critical and 85 of them are on ventilators, he added.
He said 635 fresh coronavirus cases had emerged in the provincial capital, with 270 in East District, 203 in South District, 92 in Central District, 29 in Malir, 19 in Korangi and 22 in West District.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad saw 80 fresh cases, Shaheed Benazirabad 52, Qambar-Shahdadkot 20, Khairpur 10, Ghotki and Umerkot nine each, Badin and Larkana seven each, Dadu, Sujawal and Thatta six apiece, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Matiari and Tando Allahyar two each and Sanghar one.
Separately, Hyderabad deputy commissioner issued a statement on day, marking the screening of over 100,000 samples on the day.
According to him, 100,147 tests have been conducted in Hyderabad so far, making it the district where most number of persons have been tested in Sindh so far.
