The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government is utilising all available resources to provide basic necessities of life to the people of merged districts of the province, said K-P Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Mohibullah Khan. Speaking at a consultative meeting in Kurram district on Wednesday, he announced several schemes including an agricultural research centre, a livestock research centre, a poultry research institute and trout fish farms. “Several key initiatives are being taken in line with the demand of people of the area, which will help eradicate the sense of deprivation,” he said. “Development projects worth millions of rupees will be carried out under a 10-year development plan in the merged districts.” He added that the K-P government was spending massive funds on the development of tribal districts and Rs100 billion was being spent annually on different development schemes in those areas. According to him, many projects were underway aimed at uplifting agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors of the merged districts.
