Anwar Maqsood tests positive for Covid-19

The playwright had gone through multiple tests after falling ill

In the past couple of months, the second wave of coronavirus has taken plight in Pakistan with cases rising exponentially. During this time, several public figures have contracted the disease including actors Mahira Khan, Neelum Muneer, Usman Mukhtar along with veterans Behroze Sabzwari and Sangeeta.

The latest one to have tested positive for Covid-19 is veteran literary figure Anwar Maqsood, his family confirmed to the Express Tribune. According to his son Bilal Maqsood, Anwar had undergone multiple tests after his condition had deteriorated. However, Bilal has assured that his father is on the path of recovery and is now feeling better.

Earlier today the president of Arts Council Ahmad Shah had shared a post on his official Facebook page in which he talked about the playwright being unwell. "Living legend Anwar Maqsood is unwell, please pray for his early recovery," Shah said in the Facebook post.

Anwar recently launched a show with a similar format as the iconic series Loose Talk which he wrote and starred in alongside the late legend Moin Akhtar. The new show, which is called Mere Aangan Se is being aired under the auspices of Maqsood wherein Jhooti star Yasir Hussain will take on the role of guest. Hussain has previously worked with the renowned poet in Aangan Tehra.
