
To improve the standards of policing in the city, the Rawalpindi police on Tuesday launched special initiative police stations (SIPs).
The measure has been taken on the directions of the Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Inam Ghani.
Staff at police stations in the city are being trained on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SIPs. The purpose of the training under SIP is to ensure better facilities for citizens.
The purpose of the training is to facilitate citizens who visit police stations.
In this regard, a comprehensive document has been prepared on the direction of Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younas which was sent to the Divisional SPs, and SDPOs of Rawalpindi Police.
It contains complete information about the SOPs of SIP police stations.
These SOPs are related to police stations' infrastructure, performance evaluation of investigating officers (IOs) and SHOs, implementation of the BAT system in police stations, victim support officer, instructions for writer and front desk staff, SOPs for front desk, code of conduct for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, treatment and dealing with them.
RPO in Khulli Kuchery
Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmar on Tuesday said that the provision of security and speedy justice in a dignified manner was a priority for the police.
He said this while attending a Khulli Kuchery at his office in line with the orders of the Punjab government.
He heard the application of people from four districts including Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Rawalpindi, he issued orders for immediate redressal while issuing orders for inquiry and action.
An applicant, Zahoor said in his petition that some suspects were trying to illegally occupy his land on which the RPO issued orders to Saddar SP Division to immediately inquire into the matter and report within a week.
Another applicant, Muhammad, pleaded with the RPO to order an inquiry into a murder case registered in the Chaunthra police station.
Acting on the complaint, RPO issued orders to RIB SSP to carry out an inquiry promptly and report within a week.
Javed Iqbal had also filed a complaint to shift the investigation of the case registered in Hazro police station, in response to which orders were issued to the related officials to conduct an inquiry within seven days.
Tassaduq Hussain told RPO that Kallar Kahar police were not conducting a proper investigation. At this, the orders were issued to Chakwal DPO to probe into a matter and submit a report within 10 days.
