Accumulation of water in the planned Mahota and Chahan dams will start in the coming spring season, while Dadhocha Dam has been termed as ‘an indispensable project of public welfare’ by the top officer of the Rawalpindi division.

“All departments concerned should make mobilisation plans to start work on Dadocha Dam which is an indispensable project of public welfare,” Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mahmood said onMonday. He said that a site office should be set up at any suitable place to start work on the dam and the masonry work should be mobilised on the spot to start the work and steps in this regard should be completed as soon as possible.

He expressed these views while chairing a weekly meeting at his office in which on the Daducha, Mahota and Chahann dams were reviewed. Commissioner Mehmood said that all relevant departments should be mobilised to start work on Daducha Dam while action should be taken against negligent officers without any discrimination. He said that full security will be provided by the police to labourers working at the dam and necessary instructions in this regard have been issued to the Rawalpindi CPO.

He said that the process of compensating afectees of Mahota Dam should be completed by December 30 and all legal requirements in this regard will be fulfilled. He said that work on Chahan Dam is also in full swing and every effort was being made to start the process of pooling water in the dams will commence this spring.
