Punjab CM tests positive for Covid-19

LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Monday quarantined himself after being tested positive for Covid-19.

Taking to Twitter, Focal Person on Digital Media to CM Punjab Azhar Mashwani said that Buzdar had mild symptoms of fever and flu since last night and was in self-isolation as per the advice of doctors.

He requested prayers for early recovery of the chief minister.

 

Sources privy to the development had earlier told Express News that CM Buzdar had suspended all his public and private engagements.

On Friday, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar had tested positive for coronavirus.

The minister took to Twitter to announce that he had tested positive for the virus and is isolating at home.

Pakistan reported 1,792 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the nationwide tally to 458,968.

In the last 24 hours, the virus claimed 62 lives. The country's death toll stands at 9,392.

Earlier it was reported that Punjab recorded 505 fresh cases of coronavirus in a day, whereas 34 more people lost their lives.

The new cases have taken the provincial tally of confirmed cases to 131,933, whereas the death toll now stands at 3,638.

A total of 119,998 people have also recovered from the virus in the province since the outbreak of the pandemic.
