The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has booked former Federal Minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz (PML-N) from Gujranwala, Ghulam Dastagir Khan in illegal land grabbing case.

The case has been registered on a reference filed by Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala. Khuram has been accused of occupying a prime land of Tehsil Council Sadar Gujranwala and provincial government measuring up to one kanal 10 marlas since 1967.

In the reference filed by the DC Gujranwala, he has requested to DG ACE to start criminal proceedings against Ghulam Dastagir for illegally occupying precious state land and constructing Gulistan Cinema on the grabbed land without any building plan and government officers including Tahir Gujjar MO Planning and Sarfraz Ahmed Exbuilding Inspector Nandi Pur Town for helping the beneficiaries in their nefarious designs.

District Rent Assessment Committee Gujranwala approved a rent of Rs17.16 million to be recovered from the owners of Gulistan Cinema. The reference read: “The Metropolitan Officer (Planning), Metropolitan Corporation, Gujranwala has replied vide his office letter No MCG/P/335 dated 11-11- 2020 that the site has been visited by the field staff and period of construction has been ascertained.

It has been reported that the building was constructed more than 30 years ago. Accordingly, the inventory of archive of building plan application and record of present and defunct Municipal Corporation, Gujranwala has been thrashed out. Neither entry nor building plan application are available in the record.
