It’s December 2020, you’re all comfy in a quilt as Karachi’s underrated winter ups the ante. You take a sip of that hot chocolate your mama makes on Sundays and open your Instagram in hopes to capture this picturesque moment. But just as you’re about post anything at all, you see your friend’s said yes and of course, shared it on their Instagram.
“I can’t top that!” you think, as you scroll down to find your neighbour’s uploaded their cousin’s friend’s Mehendi photos. “I don’t like to dance anyway,” you comfort yourself, as you scroll down to find pictures from yet another fancy wedding. And things only get worse when you suddenly realise, we’re still in a pandemic!
So lest we forget this holiday and wedding season that we could be harming someone else, if not ourselves by attending such large gatherings, actor Usman Mukhtar is here to remind us of just that. “Shaadi! Dance! Food! Now that I have your attention, I see your stories in shaadi places dancing chipak ke with each other. Stop it. Please follow SOPs!” wrote the Sabaat actor under his latest Insta post.
“Care about yourself and if not yourself then the unsuspecting people around you who you’re going to give the virus to,” he added to the caption. “This is life and death. Please be cautious,” concluded Mukhtar.
Here’s hoping we all find the will power to avoid as many of such risqué gatherings as possible, and if not, then may we find the decency to attend them with SOPs.
