Five killed in separate tragedies

KARACHI:

Five persons were killed in separate accidents in the city on Sunday.

A speeding minibus overturned near a flour mill in Quaidabad, killing an elderly man and leaving three others injured. The deceased, Rehman Gul, 70, son of Badshah Khan, and the injured, identified as Mujahid Khan, 35, Shahrukh, 22, and Babar, 30, were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by police and rescue workers. The injured were stated to be in stable condition.

The incident caused a gridlock, disrupting traffic, while the errant driver of the minibus fled the scene.

Meanwhile, seven-year-old Nabeel, son of Zahoor, was killed in a hit-and-run near Khuda Ki Basti in Surjani Town. The deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The minor boy was on a motorcycle with his father when the speeding vehicle hit them. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee.

Another speeding vehicle hit a pedestrian, Atta Muhammad, 40, near Burraq Pump in Sachal area, killing him. The deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Separately, a labourer died after he fell off the top floor of Falak Naz apartment in Ghazi Goth, Sachal area. The deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was identified as 23-year-old Muhammad Abdullah, son of Naseerullah.

Meanwhile, in Orangi Town, 50-year-old Bakhtiar, son of Yar Muhammad, died falling in a well in Raheem Shah Colony. The body was retrieved from the well and shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to police, the deceased fell into the well accidentally.
