PESHAWAR:

Police in the provincial capital on Saturday said that they have apprehended the main suspect in the brutal rape and murder of a minor in the city.

The suspect, Asif Raza, allegedly confessed to the police while he was also made to stand for an identification parade.

Officials said that they had arrested Raza for the brutal rape of a seven-year-old girl in the suburban Badhber area of the city. After sexually assaulting the child, the suspect had and allegedly murdered her and then set her body on fire to cover his tracks. However, the police managed to apprehend the culprit.

Officials claimed that he allegedly told them during questioning that he had gone into hiding soon after committing the crime.
