RAWALPINDI:

As the world welcomed the news that a vaccine has been developed for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) by large pharmaceuticals and some countries, scammers have started to take advantage of the news to fleece unsuspecting consumers.

This has been warned by the federal investigators and border control officials of the country.

Officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have said that with all walks of life disrupted by the pandemic, people are eager to get their hands on the vaccine early so that they can return to normal life.

The introduction of the vaccine in some parts of the world, however, has created a scenario which is being exploited by scammers and smugglers.

Investigators stated that some scammers have started claiming that they can provide vaccines, and even deliver it to the doorstep of customers in exchange for hefty sums of money.

Sources said that the FIA, the health department and other agencies have been placed on high alert to guard against the activities by such groups.
