New prime minister of Junagadh sworn in
Sultan Ahmed Ali has taken oath as the new prime minister (dewan) of the state of Junagadh. He has urged people of the princely state to stand up for their freedom from India. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Junagadh House. The eleventh Nawab of Junagadh, Nawab Jahangir Khanji along with members of the Junagadh State Council participated in the ceremony. Jahangir took the formal oath from the newly appointed prime minister and presented him with the special traditional turban of the Junagadh state and the royal decree. “My grandfather, Nawab Mahabat Khanji, acceded to Pakistan in 1947. After the accession, Pakistan’s flag was hoisted on state buildings of Junagadh to announce that Junagadh is Pakistan,” Jahangir stated. He expressed the hope that the government of Pakistan will again initiate a practical struggle along with diplomatic efforts to free Junagadh from the illegal clutches of India. “We are very thankful to Pakistan to include Junagadh in the new political map of Pakistan,” he said. Ali said that ‘Junagadh is Pakistan’ is not just a slogan but it is their essential mission. “I am ready to devote my life for this purpose,” he said, adding that he will present the issue on all international forums such as the OIC, UN, human rights organizations etc., to free Junagadh from Indian occupation.
