Ms. Marvel has grabbed the attention of the world but more-so of Pakistanis eager to see a Muslim and Pakistani superhero on screen.
Kevin Feige, president Marvel Studios, announced during a Walt Disney Investor Day presentation that Iman Vellani will star as Kamala Khan, alias Ms. Marvel, in the upcoming show.
Slated to arrive on Disney+ in 2021, the Marvel studios on December 10 added that big names will be featuring in the series alongside the newcomer.
Following her success in the ZEE5 web series Churails, it seems Nimra Bucha has added another feather to her cap. The actor is all set to make her way into the Marvel Universe with Ms. Marvel.
Although her role has not been specified and she has made no mention of it on social media either, the website has confirmed her presence. Joining Vellani and Bucha, the series will also feature Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman and Travina Springer.
“Iman Vellani as Kamala will be seen as a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. She is as an avid gamer, a great student but Kamala has special affinity for super heroes – especifically Captain Marvel,” said the writers of the masterpiece in a short snippet.
“However, Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school — that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right? But that’s not it,” they added.
The episodes of the series will be directed by Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah of the Bad Boys for Life, Meera Menon of The Walking Dead, Dirty John and Outlander and Academy Award winning Pakistani director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
