The highway authority of the country on Thursday said that it has doubled manpower and machinery employed to complete construction work on the Rs240 million Karakoram Highway (KKH) project in Abbottabad and they hope to complete it by the end of February 2021.
This was disclosed by the National Highway Authority (NHA) Deputy Director Masood Khan on Thursday.
He said that there are three parts to the KKH development plan for Abbottabad. In the first package, around 1.8 kilometres of highway will be constructed from FF Chowk to Naran, 1.9 kilometres from Naran to Jab Bridge and 2.9 kilometres from the bridge to the Mirpur police station.
He added that around 30% of work on the northern side will be completed within a month while the southern part will be completed in the next two months.
Masood mentioned that work on building drains, carpets, concrete shoulders and asphalt road is being constructed on a fast track basis, reducing the target time from six to just three months.
