ISLAMABAD:

A resident of the federal capital has sought the high court’s intervention over the lethargy of a body responsible for probing cases of medical malpractice.

Sajjad Malik has filed a petition before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), contending that his mother died during a liver transplant surgery at a private hospital.

Malik in his petition stated that on May 14 this year, his mother, Sultan Begum, died at a private hospital during surgery. But her death certificate did not mention the surgery. Malik said he had complained to the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority but it did nothing. He urged the court to direct IHRA to decide his complaint.
