Another 2,003 Covid-19 cases, 18 deaths in Sindh

Sindh saw another 2,003 Covid-19 cases emerge overnight, taking the virus tally in the province to 189,687.

According to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday, the virus also claimed 18 more lives in the province, lifting the coronavirus-related death toll to 3,099.

Shah further apprised that 12,582 samples had been tested on the day, yielding a 16 per cent positivity ratio.

Moreover, he said that 23,096 people were currently infected with the virus in the province, of whom 22,186 were in home isolation, 895 were being treated at different hospitals and 15 were admitted at isolation centres. Further, the condition of 749 was critical, while 92 had been shifted to ventilators.

On the other hand, as many as 1,451 patients recovered from the virus overnight, lifting the number of recoveries to 163,492.

Shah informed that of the newly reported cases, 1,720 were detected in the provincial capital alone. Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 68 cases, Shaheed Benazirabad 21, Sujawal 19, Jamshoro 16, Badin 15, Umerkot 14, Ghotki 13, Sanghar 10, Thatta nine, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Larkana eight each, Shikarpur six, Sukkur and Tando Allahyar four each, Naushero Feroze and Kashmore three each, Jacobabad two, and Khairpur and Mirpurkhas one apiece.
