The body of a youth was found in a sack in Batala Colony area. He was allegedly killed by unknown people after being given intoxicated.
Police took the body into custody and shifted it to a hospital for autopsy. According to the police report, the body of 32-year-old Junaid Tahir, son of Zaman Malik and a resident of Model Town, Main Bazaar, was found wrapped in a sack near Qadriyah Chowk.
The victim was reportedly killed by hitting a sharp tool in the head after being given an intoxicated substance.
After local residents witnessed the body lying, they informed the police.
After identifying the body of the deceased with the help of fingerprints, the police informed the victim’s relatives.
Batala Colony SHO Inspector Waheed Shahid told The Express Tribune that Junaid was addicted to drugs and his family members did not want to take any action. “The victim was also being treated. It is possible that he either consumed or was given an intoxicated substance.”
Action will be taken after the postmortem report, he added.
This is not the only incident of a body found after alleged murder in the province.
On November 28, the body of a 10-year-old girl was found in Chak No 711L near Sahiwal.
The victim was allegedly abducted and murdered with a sharp-edged weapon on the outskirts of Harappa.
Her body was found in a sack outside her house.
The minor girl, a daughter of Nobahar, went to a shop in the evening to buy something.
When the girl did not return home for a long time, the family started searching for her but the girl was not found anywhere. Later, two unidentified motorcyclists threw the body of the girl in a sack outside the house at 10pm and fled.
When the girl’s family came out and opened the sack, it was the victim’s body. There were multiple scars on the body and the victim was killed with a sharp weapon.
On July 17, the decapitated body of a 24-year-old pregnant woman was found floating in the Jhang Branch Canal near Dengro, in the precincts of Nishatabad police station.
The woman was beheaded with a sharp weapon and thrown into the canal.
Police also found the head of the woman near Rajaba post.
