Illegal structures demolished during drive

To prevent state property, which had been encroached by land grabbers, from being reoccupied, the apex civic authority of the federal capital on Tuesday said that it has decided to set up pickets on such properties.

This was stated by Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials on Tuesday as it managed to retrieve around 1,600 kanals of land issued directives on Tuesday to establish pickets at lands retrieved from encroachments with the cooperation of district administration.

According to a notification shared by the authority, CDA retrieved 1,600 kanals of government land from the illegal occupation of land mafia members.

CDA officials said that they had conducted anti-encroachment operations in different parts of the city and had demolished dozens of illegal constructions such as completed and under construction rooms, fences, water tankers and other encroachments were demolished under the initiative.

The encroachments demolished under the operation include an illegal room and boundary wall in Bari Imam, a room and a pillar in Sector G-7, an illegal boundary wall in Saidpur Village, newly constructed illegal garage, a boundary wall and rooms in Sector G-9, a room at Khanpur Dam, another room in Sector C-16 and other illegal shops, stalls and rooms at various sites. The action was also taken against wedding halls along Islamabad Expressway and Khanna Pull, the notification added.

Officials said that per directions from CDA Chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed, the enforcement directorate used heavy machinery from the Machinery Pool Organisation (MPO) of the authority to demolish the illegal structures.
