Dacoits who looted F-6 jewellery shop caught

Police claim suspects allegedly confessed to burglary

ISLAMABAD:

Police on Tuesday said that they had managed to apprehend two of the dacoits who were allegedly involved in stealing jewellery and cash worth nearly Rs45 million from a jewellery store in the federal capital.

The Kohsar police said that a jewellery store located in the Super Market area of Sector F-6 had been robbed on November 23 by three armed men. They stole around Rs4 million in cash and around 400 tolas of gold.

Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP) Aamir Zulfiqar and DIG Operations Waqaruddin Syed had directed the City Superintendent of Police (SP) Omer Khan to trace the culprits.

Omer constituted a special team under the supervision of ASP Ayesha Gul, Kohsar SHO Asjad Mehmud, SI Kamal Khan and others.

The team managed to track down and apprehend two suspects, identified as Sadaqat Shah and Adeel. They said that they had recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. Further, during preliminary investigations, suspects allegedly confessed to committing the burglary.

They further disclosed that Adeel was the son of a security guard at the store and that he worked at another jewellery shop in the vicinity.
