Man ‘strangles woman to death’

Incidents of murder were on the rise across the province

KHURARIANWALA:

A man who was a guest at a house in Sheikhupura Road allegedly strangled a married woman to death over a minor altercation and fled.

Police took the body of the deceased into custody and shifted it to a hospital for postmortem and started raids to find the fugitive.

According to the police report, Asghar Mehman, a resident of Shahkot, was a guest at Nisar Ahmed’s house in Chak No 60 village.

The accused allegedly strangled Nisar Ahmed’s wife Shamim Bibi, 40, in her sleep due to a domestic dispute and escaped from the crime scene.

Police seized the body of the deceased and started raids in Shahkot to nab the accused.

According to Khurrianwala DSP Mian Khalid, the accused Asghar had been staying at Nisar’s house for three days.

The accused had a minor altercation with Nisar’s wife Shamim Bibi. In a fit of rage, he decided to kill the woman. He strangled Shamim to death in her sleep at night and fled in the morning. Raids were being carried out to arrest him.

On October 14, a man who murdered his sister-in-law over a strained affair was arrested in the provincial capital.

The body of a woman was found in a sewer a month prior to the arrest in Ghalib Market area of Lahore. The police investigations team traced the case of the blind murder of said woman and arrested her sister’s husband along with his accomplice.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim wanted to marry her sister’s husband.

The suspect got deranged over an exchange of harsh words between them after which he along with his friend killed her.

On October 12, two women were allegedly murdered in separate incidents in Sargodha.

The accused Waseem, a resident of Miani, used to quarrel with his wife Shehnaz Bibi over a domestic dispute.

On the day of the incident, the couple had an altercation over another domestic issue. In a fit of rage, the accused husband allegedly shot dead his wife.

In another incident of murder, the accused Muhammad Kashif, a resident of Mangowali village, wanted to marry his maternal cousin Iram Shehzadi.

However, the girl’s parents had refused the marriage proposal. In fit of a rage, Kashif allegedly opened fire and killed Iram.

On May 2, police arrested a man named Zahid Mahmood who killed his friend Abbas Ali alias Jagnu over a monetary dispute.

Zahid, a close friend of Abbas, confessed to killing his friend.
