ISLAMABAD:

A gang of dacoits who robbed houses in the federal capital was busted on Friday with stolen valuables worth Rs3.7 million recovered from their possession. A police spokesperson said that Rural SP Farooq Amjad Butter had constituted special teams under the supervision of DSP Rukhsar Medhi, SI Shahid Zaman, ASI Waris Ali and others to track robbers who have been ransacking houses in the district. In this regard, the Lohi Bher police managed to nab the ring leader of a gang of burglars involved in looting houses. The suspected burglar was identified as Ali Raza, a resident of the Khushab district of Punjab. They recovered stolen cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs3.7 million from him. They also found a pistol and ammunition in his possession. A case was registered against him while further investigations are underway. Police expect to apprehend the remaining members of his gang soon. Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed appreciated the performance of the special team and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for the officers.
