A viral image purportedly shows the first prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru getting intimate with an unknown woman in the presence of Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The Express Tribune found the claim to be misleading as the woman has been identified as the Indian Congress leader's niece and Jinnah is not the photo as it was taken in 1955 after his passing.

Facebook users shared the post with the picture of Nehru being kissed by a lady and portraying him as a womaniser.

Several pictures of Nehru have been doing rounds in social media trying to potray him as a womaniser for many years.

The lady kissing Nehru was his sister Vijaya Laxmi’s daughter, Nayantara Sehgal. This picture was taken when Nehru arrived at London airport in 1955 and can be seen in the 27 seconds into footage of the British Pathé, a vintage producer of newsreels and documentaries.

In the video, Nehru was greeted by United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden.
